Scholarship Opportunities

Minorities in Medicine Scholarship

Allied Health Practitioners make up nearly 60 percent of all U.S. health care providers who contribute to the well-being of the nation. To increase the number of minorities in this field, three UTSA Alumna have come together and created The Minorities in Medicine Scholarship. This $1000 scholarship is designed to aid and empower an underrepresented community in all disciplines of allied health care.

 

The scholarship is open to all current minority students at The University of Texas at San Antonio, who are classified as a Junior or Senior. Applicants must also be pursuing a career in the Allied Health Field, have an overall 3.0 GPA, and complete the scholarship application and essay.

We would like to introduce our Minorities in Medicine Scholarship winner, TaMarr Daniels. TaMarr is a Senior Public Health major at UTSA and has the goal of becoming one of the top health policy leaders in the nation. She is currently developing a non-profit organization that advocates for college students with no insurance and would like to provide them with resources to find free or low-cost clinics and medical supplies. TaMarr is the former president of the Black Health Professions Organization and is involved in the NAACP. Congratulations TaMarr and we can’t wait to see all that you accomplish
